Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can automatically acquire an IP address without introducing a dedicated installer and can simplify an introduction procedure of a driving program by a user.SOLUTION: A user issues an instruction to an automatically detected printer to cause a host computer to download and display a page file. When the user clicks a hyperlink on the page file, an HTTP processing part 206 of the printer downloads an installation program file for a printer driver to the host computer. When executing the installation program file to install the printer driver, the host computer extracts an IP address from the file name of a symbolic file provided in the installation program file and sets the IP address in the printer driver.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
