In an original M, a document image (visible image) based on a black toner and a code image (invisible image) based on an invisible toner are formed, and the degree of gloss of the image of the invisible toner is set higher than the degree of gloss of the image of the black toner. In reading the original M using a scanner unit 45, the original M is irradiated with white light and infrared light, the document image is obtained on the basis of a result of the reception of a diffused reflected light from the original M with respect to the white light, and the code image and the identification information included in the code image are obtained on the basis of a result of the reception of regularly reflected light from the original M with respect to the infrared light.
