The image forming apparatus 100, where a recording object image is recorded on the photosensitive material film 13 by using data corresponding to the kind of the photosensitive material film 13, includes: a storage means in which the data corresponding to the kind of the photosensitive material film 13 is stored; a density measuring means 29 which measures the density of a density pattern for a test to be recorded on the photosensitive material film 13; and a control means E which controls to record the recording object image on the photosensitive material film 13 by recording the density pattern for the test on the photosensitive material film 13, discriminating the kind of the photosensitive material film 13 from the measured value of the density of the density pattern for the test measured by the density measuring means 29 and reading out the data according to the kind thereof from the storage means.
