To provide an image forming apparatus that suppresses or prevents fog on a non-image part of a recording medium without complicating the configuration of the apparatus.
The image forming apparatus forms an image by using liquid developer including: a toner made of resin containing a pigment; and a carrier made of nonvolatile solvent. The apparatus develops electrostatic latent images on the surfaces of a plurality of photoreceptor drums 11Y-11K with the toner in the liquid developer, transfers the developed toner images to the intermediate transfer belt 41. When transferring the transferred toner image to a recording medium P on a conveying path 70 to be output, the amount of carrier attached to the intermediate transfer belt 41 from the photoreceptor drums 11Y-11K are decreased by making the oil repellency of the surface of the intermediate transfer belt 41 greater than that of the surface of the photosensitive drums 11Y-11K. Fog on an non-image part is suppressed or prevented by decreasing the amount of carrier attached to the recording medium P and dispersion toner in the carrier.
