Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately reduce the temperature unevenness of a fixing nip part, even in a fixing belt in which a temperature tends to vary in a circumferential direction.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes an endless fixing belt 41 heated by a resistance heating element, a support member keeping the belt 41 in a nearly circular shape, a pressure member 51 coming into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the belt 41, to form a nip part N, temperature detection means SE1 for detecting the temperature of the belt 41, position detection means SE2 for detecting the position in the circumferential direction of the belt 41, power supply means for supplying electric power to the resistance heating element, storage means for storing the detected temperature and position, and control means. Operation is performed in a property storage mode in which fixed electric power is supplied to the resistance heating element, so that the belt 41 generates the heat and the temperature related to the position in the circumferential direction is detected and stored in the storage means, during a non-fixing operation and in a fixing execution mode in which the electric power supplied to the resistance heating element is corrected from the position and temperature stored in the storage means and the power supply means is controlled so that the temperature of the nip part becomes a target temperature, during a fixing operation.
