PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can suppress a temperature increase inside the apparatus in association with the adoption of means for improving developing characteristics of developer.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus determines whether or not a temperature inside the image forming apparatus is equal to or higher than a reference temperature with an internal environment sensor (ST101), determines, when determining that the inside of the apparatus is a high-temperature environment at the reference temperature or higher, whether or not the apparatus is operated in continuous printing operation (ST102), determines, when determining that the apparatus is operated in the continuous printing operation, whether or not a humidity inside the image forming apparatus is equal to or higher than a reference humidity (ST104), and decreases, when determining that the inside of the apparatus is a high-humidity environment at the reference humidity or higher, a peak-to-peak voltage Vpp of AC bias, and decreases, when determining that the inside of the apparatus is not a high-humidity environment at the reference humidity or higher, a frequency f of the AC bias (ST106) to improve developing characteristics of developer while suppressing heat generation of a developing bias power source.
