Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of always obtaining excellent image quality by preventing toner from dropping from a holding member for preventing toner remaining after transfer overflowing from a cleaning device recovering residual toner from an image carrier from dropping into a machine.SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus configured so that the toner remaining after transfer is recovered from the surface of an image carrier 2 after a toner image is transferred to a paper sheet by a cleaning device 6, the toner remaining after transfer overflowing from the cleaning device 6 is held by toner holding means 27 arranged on the upstream side of the cleaning means 6 in the rotational direction of the image carrier 2, and the toner remaining after transfer held by the toner holding means 27 is returned to the image carrier 2, when an image is not formed, the toner holding means 27 is rotationally driven in the rotational direction different from that of the image carrier 2 at a predetermined timing in an image forming operation, to change an area holding the toner remaining after transfer T and prevent the toner remaining after transfer T from being held to be deviated to a specific area.
