Abstract:
To provide an image forming apparatus that can inhibit an increase in film thickness measurement error due to superimposition of an interference waveform on the surface of an outermost surface layer of an image carrier and an interference waveform on an inside layer.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: multi-laminated image carriers; light sources that each irradiate the image carrier with light in a predetermined wavelength region; spectroscopic means that each disperse the light reflected on the surface of the image carrier; optical sensors that each detect the light dispersed by the spectroscopic means; and film thickness detection means that each, when the irradiation light reflects on an outermost surface layer and an inside layer and reaches the optical sensor, executes frequency analysis on the spectroscopic spectral intensity of the reflected light to separate an interference waveform on the surface of the outermost surface layer of the image carrier and an interference waveform on the inside layer from each other, and thereby calculate the film thickness of the outermost surface layer of the image carrier.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
