A control part determines whether the image forming device is in printing operation or not (S100), determines whether a fixing outlet paper sensor output is on or not when the device is in printing operation (S110), determines whether a fixing inlet paper sensor output is on or not when the fixing outlet paper sensor output is off (S120), determines that paper P is not clamped by a fixing roller (not in fixing operation) when both the fixing outlet paper sensor output and fixing inlet paper sensor output are off and executes fixing swing operation by moving the fixing device in the main-scanning direction (S130). The paper whose main-scanning direction is aligned with an image forming position by a registration roller can be stacked on the paper discharge tray without misalignment.
