To provide a fan-out component for multi-core fiber (MCF) that achieves core positioning with high precision, makes a uniform, low-loss optical connection, and is manufactured at low cost.
The fan-out component for MCF includes a plurality of thin-diameter fibers, and a guide component which arranges and holds the plurality of thin-diameter fibers so that relative positions of the plurality of thin-diameter fibers substantially match relative positions of respective cores of the MCF. A projection or hollow is formed at a core part of a tip of each thin-diameter fiber, a hollow or projection is formed at each core part of an end face of the MCF, and the thin-diameter fiber is projected from an end face of the guide component by length M and then bent. Then the projection or hollow of the core part of the tip of each thin-film fiber and the hollow or projection at each core part of the end face of the MCF are engaged with each other and connected together to input and output light to and from the respective cores of the MCF individually.
