Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can efficiently recover a toner accumulating on a sealing member provided on an opening of a developing device opposing to an image carrier.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: image carriers; charging devices; exposure devices; developing devices; a toner consumption calculation part; and a control part. The control part forms, during a non-image forming period, an electrostatic latent image pattern in which the boundaries between exposure parts and non-exposure parts are present at a predetermined interval or less over the entire width direction of an image forming area of the image carrier, and can execute a sealing member cleaning mode of driving to rotate the image carrier so that the electrostatic latent image pattern passes through the sealing member. When the number of prints after the execution of the previous sealing member cleaning mode reaches a predetermined threshold, the control part executes the sealing member cleaning mode. The control part changes the printing ratio of the electrostatic latent image pattern formed on a plurality of areas in the axial direction of the image carrier according to the accumulated toner consumption in the areas calculated by the toner consumption calculation part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
