Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can efficiently recover a toner accumulating on a sealing member provided on an opening of a developing device opposing to an image carrier.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: image carriers; charging devices; exposure devices that each irradiate the image carrier with light to form an electrostatic latent image; developing devices that each develop the electrostatic latent image on the surface of the image carrier into a toner image; a temperature and humidity detection device; and a control part. The developing devices each have a sealing member that prevents leakage of toner from a gap between the image carrier and a developer container. The control part forms, during a non-image forming period, a first electrostatic latent image pattern in which the boundaries between exposure parts and non-exposure parts are present at a predetermined interval or less over the entire width direction of an image forming area of the image carrier, can execute a sealing member cleaning mode of driving to rotate the image carrier so that the first electrostatic latent image pattern passes through the sealing member, and forms a second electrostatic latent image pattern consisting of solid patterns continuously from the first electrostatic latent image pattern when the absolute humidity is equal to or higher than a predetermined value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
