PURPOSE: To eliminate the misalignment of images caused when two images are superposed on a recording material.
CONSTITUTION: The black-and-white toner image is formed by a first electrophotographic image forming means I on the upstream side and the color ink image is formed by a second ink jetting type image forming means II on a downstream side. The length of the recording material P shrinks in a carrying direction when it is passed through the heat fixing device 12 of the image forming means I. The shrinkage of the material P is detected by the light emitting part 32a and the light receiving part 32b of a size detection means 32 and a correction value is calculated by a correction means 51. Based on the correction value, an image writing position is corrected when the image is formed by the second image forming means II. Thus, the ink image can be superposed on the material P shrinking when the toner image is formed without causing the deviation of the images.
