Abstract:
PURPOSE: To eliminate toner scattering with a simple constitution and to obtain a superior resolution by melting, transferring a toner image to a recording material by imparting pressure and heat to an intermediate transfer sheet and obtaining a visual image by separating it from the intermediate transfer sheet.
CONSTITUTION: The melt transfer part 18 is constituted from a heat roller 9 and a pressure roller 10 and the toner image on the intermediate transfer sheet 2 is transferred, and fixed by heat to the recording material 4 by impressing heat and pressure at a nip part of the heat roller 9 and the pressure roller 10 against the intermediate transfer sheet 2 which is superposed with the recording material 4. The heat roller 9 is a hollow and rigid roll coated with material provided with thermal resistance such as silicone resin, provided with a heater 23 such as a halogen lamp inside and the roller as a whole is heated to 50°C to 180°C. The pressure roller 10 used is a rigid roll with its surface coated by silicone resin. The heat roller 9 and the pressure roller 10 are preferably rolls with a great coefficient of friction since it is necessary to feed the recording material 4 and the transfer sheet 2 without slipping.
