To provide an image forming method capable of obtaining a high- sensitivity and high-contrast image by using a light source in a visible area from blue to red or an infrared laser in a perfect dry processing system, fixing the image at high speed, and making a device simple and inexpensive.
This image forming method includes a 1st stage where a latent image is formed by performing image-exposure on recording material by the light source, a 2nd stage where the image is formed by performing thermal processing to the recording material on which the latent image is formed, and a 3rd stage where an image part is fixed and the coloring of a non-image part is decolorized by irradiating the recording material to which the thermal processing has been performed with light by the light source used in the 1st stage. It is desirable to select the one from a laser, an LED, a flash lamp, a fluorescent lamp, a xenon lamp and a mercury lamp as the light source.
