Abstract:

To provide an image forming system wherein the time required for adjustment of a punching position in a breadthwise direction of a sheet can be shortened and higher-speed punching processing is possible.

The amount of lateral misregistration of each sheet S is detected by a lateral registration detection part 700 provided on a sheet transporting path 160 and is sent to a sheet processing apparatus control part 205 of a sheet processing apparatus 103. The sheet processing apparatus control part 205 controls driving of a punch moving motor M66 on the basis of the difference between the amount of displacement of a detected current sheet and that of the next sheet following it so that a punch part 60 of a punch unit 50 is moved from a punching position for the current sheet to that for the next sheet along the width direction of sheets.
