To provide an image forming system in which print data is halved, one print data is transmitted through a network to an image forming apparatus, the other print data is stored into an attachable/detachable storage device together with the device inherent information of the image forming apparatus, and the print data is restored by mounting the storage device on the image forming apparatus, and consequently the print data is prevented from being restored by an unintended image forming apparatus.
An information processor is provided with a means for halving print data, a means for transmitting one of halved print data to an image forming apparatus and a means for storing the other of the halved print data and the device inherent information into a storage device. An image forming apparatus is provided with a means for transmitting the device inherent information to the information processor when receiving one of the halved print data, a means for confirming the device inherent information stored in the storage device and a means for restoring the print data by combining the two halved print data.
