The image processing apparatus includes an image acquisition unit, a phase difference image generating unit 220, and a resolution enhancement unit 225. The image acquisition unit acquires a captured image obtained by capturing a first subject image and a second subject image with a parallax with respect to the first subject image. The phase difference image generating unit 220 generates a first image IR corresponding to the first subject image and a second image IL corresponding to the second subject image on the basis of the captured image. The resolution enhancement unit 225 performs resolution enhancement of the captured image on the basis of the first image IR and the second image IL.
