To provide an image processing apparatus capable of applying print processing to an image belonging to the scRGB space with high accuracy.
A data reception section 200 in the image processing apparatus 20 receives image data (RGB in each 16 bits) via a network. An analysis section 202 analyzes to which of a real expression range wherein the reflectance is 0% or over and 100% or below, a virtual expression range wherein the reflectance is less than 0%, and a virtual expression range wherein the reflectance exceeds 100%, respective pixel values of RGB components of pixels included in the image data belong. A color conversion control section 204 discriminates to which region among 27 ways of regions the pixels belong in response to a result of the analysis, and selects a DLUT according to which the pixels are to be converted. A color conversion section 206 refers to the selected DLUT to carry out color conversion processing and applies color conversion to the image data into image data (YMCK) of a color system suitable for the print processing.
