Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the position of an object, e.g. a pad, correctly with high accuracy.
SOLUTION: The edge of a pad is detected roughly by a rough edge detection circuit 4 and a decision circuit 5. More specifically, an edge detection starting point P is set in a detection area and the cross-sectional chart indicative of the density of an image is formed line by line in the vertical and horizontal directions starting from the point P in order to detect an edge roughly. A redetection area is set in the vicinity of the edge based on the rough edge by means of a detail edge detection circuit 6 and a decision circuit 7. The edge is detected again in the redetection area. Bonding wires and leads located on the periphery of the pad have little effect on the edge detection. Means coordinate of edges detected in the redetection area is employed as the coordinate of edge.
