To provide an image reading apparatus in which electronic equipment comprising the image reading apparatus can be miniaturized and a reading defect hardly occurs.
A back light 11 is disposed on the lower side of a liquid crystal panel 1, a photosensor panel 21 is disposed on the upper side of the liquid crystal panel 1, and the photosensor panel 21 comprises a glass substrate. In such an image reading apparatus, a plurality of photosensors arrayed in the shape of matrix and driving circuit parts 24-26 for driving the photosensors are integrally formed in a reading area, the image reading apparatus is configured to read a subject, and the size of the reading area 23 is made comparatively large, so that a reading defect hardly occurs. Furthermore, it is not necessary to provide an area to dispose a photosensor panel therein separately from the display panel, thereby miniaturizing electronic equipment comprising the image reading apparatus.
