PURPOSE: To prevent nonuniformity in output and deterioration of image quality, by providing a light-shielding part in a light-transmitting part of a light- transmitting substrate near each of photoelectric conversion elements so that an equal amount of light is transmitted by every photoelectric conversion element.
CONSTITUTION: Light-shielding dummy pattern 12 modeled after read-out signal lines 11 are formed on the surface of a light-transmitting substrate. Further, a light-shielding dummy pattern 13 modeled after a photoelectric conversion element 7, a capacitor 8, a TFT 9 and a part of the read-out signal lines 11 is formed at an end thereof. Thus, the dummy patterns are formed as shielding layers so that all of line photoelectric conversion elements have a light-shielding part (or light-transmitting part) substantially identical configurations with each other. Consequently, pattern of the light-shielding part has approximately identical configurations with that of the light-transmitting part near the photoelectric conversion elements in any part of the photoelectric conversion element array. Therefore, nonuniformity in output is decreased substantially.
