To provide a high-speed image recording apparatus constituted of a compact mechanism, which can print on a sheet requiring no coating without conducting any coating processing, thereby not causing a reduction in throughput, which achieves a sheet reversing structure, thereby being made compact and preventing jamming.
The image recording apparatus includes a coating processing path to coat the recording medium with preprocessing liquid by a processing liquid coating means, and a no-coating requiring path to coat nothing. An image recording means is configured to record on the recording medium which is drawn out of a sheet feeding unit, then, coated with the preproccesing liquid, thereafter, passes through the coating processing path, and reverses upward to be conveyed to a sheet feeding unit direction. The recording medium coated with the preprocessing liquid is guided by guide plates (42) provided on both of front and rear sides of the recording medium until directing to the sheet feeding unit direction rather than directing to a vertical upside direction.
