PURPOSE: To obtain the image scanner with high performance and long-term reliability by making a lens and a case with a polymer material and fixing or forming integrally the both.

CONSTITUTION: A light source mount face 13 is formed in a black plastic-made opaque case 12 and a LED mount board 14 is arranged to the light source mount face 13. Furthermore, four LEDs 15 are arranged on the board 14 and a transparent plastic protection cover 16 is provided onto each LED 15. Furthermore, an electric insulating board 19 is fixed to the case 12 with machine screws at an opening of a recessed part 17 formed in the inside of the case 12 and a semiconductor chip 20 is arranged on the insulation board 19. Then a transparent resin layer such as a silicone resin, an epoxy resin or a polyether amide is formed on the surface of the semiconductor chip 20 and the electric insulating board 19 with a thickness T of nearly 100μm or below.
