Abstract:

To facilitate double or multiple back-up of a medical image or another image.

An image receiving means receives a medical image generated by a medical image generating apparatus via LAN, and successively stores the received image in a second storage medium and a first storage medium. A transfer control means is connected to the first storage medium, and the transfer control means is connected to an external storage unit via the LAN. A transfer times setting and storing means stores the number of times of back-up to be performed (set number of times of back-up), for example, double back-up or triple back-up etc., and an actual transfer times storage means stores the number of times of back-up (actual number of times of back-up) already performed for one type of image data. The set number of times of back-up is compared with the actual number of times of back-up to reliably execute the back-up of the predetermined times.
