Abstract:

To provide an imaging apparatus and the like having image quality suitable for a scene and capable of providing an image of a certain number of pixels regardless of a scene.

This imaging apparatus includes: an imaging element 120; a scene determination portion 109 for determining a scene based on an image signal read from the imaging element; image reading portions (121, 122, 123, 124, 125) for reading an image signal representing an image of the number of pixels in accordance with the scene determined by the scene determination portion; an image quality adjustment portion 103 for applying an image quality adjustment process of adjusting the image quality of the image to the read image signal while keeping the number of pixels of the image represented by the image signal; a designated pixel number setting portion 102 for setting the number of pixels of the image based on a user operation; and a pixel number conversion portion 104 for converting the image signal after the image quality is adjusted by the image quality adjustment portion to an image signal representing an image of the number of pixels set by the designated pixel number setting portion.
