Abstract:
To provide an imaging apparatus and an imaging method capable of exposure control by positively using effects characteristic to a backlight scene etc.
The face section of a person in image data obtained from a light flux received by an imaging device 102 is detected by a face detection circuit 108. A microcomputer 114 compares the luminance of the face section with that of a background section and if the luminance of the background section is higher than that of the face section, controls exposure such that, while the exposure value of the face section is at a second proper level higher than a first proper level, the exposure value of the backlight section is higher than the second proper level.
