To provide an imaging apparatus which can determine a change in an angle of field occurring in an image photographed by zoom operation even if viewing a subject by an optical finder in pieces of imaging apparatus that can attach and detach the optical finder and include a zoom function.
The imaging apparatus includes a control means 110 of letting a display means 114 display an image based on image data generated by an imaging means 106 when the use of the display means 114 is selected, and of letting the display means 114 display an image based on the image data generated by the imaging means 106 with low luminance only while an instructing means 113 instructs a change in focal distance of an optical system 100 and for a prescribed period after that when the use of an optical finder 120 is selected.
