When capturing a moving image using an electronic camera, a tilting angle is stored at the time of starting the moving image recording. The tilting angle at the time of beginning of moving image recording is compared with a tilting angle during moving image recording, and in accordance with an angle difference between the both, a tilting state is reported. When a user performs image capturing while intensively tilting the camera at the time of beginning moving image recording, therefore, the tilting at the time of beginning image recording is also maintained even during moving image recording.
