Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup apparatus that satisfactorily corrects various aberrations whether in air or in water, ensures high optical performance, secures a wide image angle even in water and is compact as a whole system to make it suitable for use both in water and on land.SOLUTION: In an image pickup apparatus having an image pickup optical system arranged farthest on the light incidence side and a housing for accommodating the image pickup optical system including a protective lens having a convex-shape face on the light incident side, the image pickup optical system is equipped with an aperture stop, and an optical system A and an optical system B, the systems being arranged closer to the image side than the aperture stop and selectively arranged in the optical path of the image pickup optical system. The optical system A and the optical system B have different optical characteristics from each other, and the housing has switchover means that separates the exterior and interior of the housing and selectively arranges either the optical system A or the optical system B in the optical path of the image pickup optical system in accordance with the media of the exterior of the housing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
