Title:
IMMOBILIZED ENZYME OR IMMOBILIZED MICROBIAL CELL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5542529
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form immobilized enzyme or immobilized microbial cells into an industrially desirable form, by the use of a photo-setting resin as a binder.

CONSTITUTION: An aqueous dispersion of an enzyme such as urease, glucoamylase, catalase and aspartase, or cells of bacteria such as Streptomyces phaeochromagenes, Aerobacter aerogenes, and Trichoderma viridae, is homogeneously mixed with a photo-setting resin such as unsaturated polyester resin and unsaturated acrylic resin, and irradiated with actinic light to obtain a molded article having a thickness satisfying the formula. The shape of the article is, e.g. sphere, cylinder, ring or square pillar.

EFFECT: The enzyme or microbial cells thus formed can be easily charged into a reaction column to a charging ration of as high as about 50%. The liquid space velocity reaches 0.1cm/sec, and the activity of the enzymes etc. is scarcely affected by the external diffusion resistance.
