Abstract:
To provide a production process of acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile, which offers an excellent production rate and an excellent quality of the obtained product without increasing the size of a column used in recovery and purification sections.
The process is for the recovery of acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile obtained from a reactor effluent of an ammoxidation reaction of propylene or isobutylene. The process comprises a step of passing the reactor effluent through an absorber column, a first decanter, a recovery column, a second decanter and a stripper column. The process is improved by maintaining the inside temperature of the first and second decanters at between about 32 to about 75°F.
