Abstract:
PURPOSE: To recycle economically a plastic waste comprising a styrenic resin by vaporizing a solution of the waste, pelletizing the obtained melt, recovering the pellets, and reusing the separated solvent after purification.
CONSTITUTION: The method for the recycling comprises dissolving a plastic waste comprising a styrenic resin in a solvent at an elevated temperature, filtering the obtained solution to remove therefrom adherent foreign substances such as labels, heating the filtrate in a vacuum of 1-75Torr to about 200-300°C to evaporate and separate the solvent from the solution, extruding the obtained plastic melt into pellets, recovering these pellets, condensing and recovering the evaporated and separated solvent, distilling the recovered solvent to remove an entrained low-molecular-weight synthetic resin therefrom, and reusing the recovered solvent as the solvent for dissolving a plastic waste. According to the above process, the pelletized recycle is freed from adherent foreign substances, etc., and therefore has a good color tone.
