Abstract:
To provide an improved process and a purification process unit for producing API Group II base oil from feed containing an aromatic extract.SOLUTION: An improved method for producing a heavy API Group II base oil comprises: a step a of carrying out aromatic extraction of first hydrocarbon feed to produce an aromatic extract and a waxy raffinate for further solvent dewaxing; a step b of mixing the aromatic extract with second hydrocarbon feed to produce mixed feed with sulfur greater than 2000 ppm by weight; and a step c of feeding the mixed feed to a hydroprocessing unit configured to produce the heavy API Group II base oil having a kinematic viscosity of 22.6 to 100 mm2/s at 70°C.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
