Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a sufficiently tolerant suppository having excellent biological utility and stability by including a suppository base agent, calcitonin and taurocholic acid or its salt. CONSTITUTION: This suppository contains (A) a suppository base agent, e.g. a glyceride obtained from a fatty acid such as cacao butter, coconut oil or palm oil, (B) calcitonin, preferably calcitonin human, calcitonin salmon or calcitonin eel, especially calcitonin salmon and (C) taurocholic acid or its medically allowable salt, preferably a salt containing <=10wt.%, especially <=5wt.% of cholic acid-type impurities. The suppository further contains a buffer (preferably citric acid/sodium citrate-system) including pH3.8-5.0 and 1-10wt.% of water-soluble diluent (e.g. mannitol or lactic acid). A mixing amount of the component C is a range within 1-4wt.%, preferably 1.8-2.1wt.%.
