Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of NOx in stratified combustion by advancing the opening timing of one of two intake valves more than the opening timing of the other intake valve, setting a phase difference in opening timing between both the intake valves, and forming a valve recess in a position corresponding to one intake valve in a piston crown surface. SOLUTION: A phase difference in opening timing is set to intake valves 5A, 5B arranged in a first and second intake ports 7A, 7B, and the opening timing of the intake valve 5A is advanced more than that of an intake valve 5B. In a low load area where a stratified combustion is performed, the valve overlap between the intake valve 5A and an exhaust valve 6A is large, which actively increases the internal EGR quantity. A valve recess is provided in a position corresponding to the intake valve 5A in a piston crown surface, so that the injected fuel can be collided to the circumferential wall surface on the side having the valve recess by a swirl flow in the initial stage of the fuel injection to a cavity combustion chamber through a fuel injection valve 11 in stratified combustion to transfer all the fuel to an ignition plug 10 side by laying it on the swirl flow.
