Abstract:
Provided is an in-wheel motor structure that can reduce the vehicle width direction dimension of an in-wheel motor, and also efficiently increase the strength of a support member. An in-wheel motor structure that includes an inner stator (50), an outer rotor (80), and a motor case (87) linked to said outer rotor (80), said in-wheel motor structure being applied to an in-wheel motor (M) in which the motor case (87) is fixed to the inner circumferential side of a wheel rim (81), wherein recesses (85) are formed in the motor case (87) so as to be recessed up to the position where overlap with the inner stator (50) occurs in the vehicle width direction. Brake drums (83) that are braked by a brake shoe (84) are provided in the recess (85). The brake drums (83) are arranged to mutually overlap with the inner stator (50) in the vehicle width direction. Groove-form thermal insulation portions (82) are formed on the surface side of the motor case (87) in positions between the brake drums (83) and the inner stator (50).
