PURPOSE: To obtain an incense stick which can be easily and surely ignited without danger of getting burnt and used in Buddhist mass, etc., by applying an ignition-promoting agent to at least an end of the main body of the incense stick.
CONSTITUTION: An ignition-promoting agent such as an agent produced by kneading a phosphorus-based ignition agent, sulfur, etc., with a proper binder (generally used as a raw material for match) or an agent produced by kneading the above mixture with a wax, etc., acting as a binder and having ignition- promoting action is applied to at least one end part 2 of the main body part 1 of a bundle of incense sticks by a proper means such as lamination, dipping or spraying of the agent or pasting of an ignition paper 3 coated with the ignition-promoting agent to an end 2 of the bundled incense sticks. The incense sticks produced by this process can be quickly, easily, surely and safely ignited with the heating power corresponding to single burning match while directing the igniting part of the incense stick upward.
