Title:
INDENTATION TYPE HARDNESS METER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3849781
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indentation type hardness meter capable of accurately measuring the hardness even for a material hard to recognize the contour of a dent or impossible to recognize the accurate contour of the dent such as plastics or the like.
SOLUTION: The indentation type hardness meter is provided with an imaging means 17 for taking the image of the dent formed on the surface of a sample and an image processing means 2b for extracting two ridgeline marks R1 and R2 appearing in the dent of the sample so as to cross each other using the output from the imaging means 17 and calculating the position data of the respective end points of them. The diagonal length of the dent can be measured accurately by utilizing a phenomenon that the mark of the ridgeline of an indenter 15a clearly remains even with respect to a material of which the dent is obscure in its contour by calculating the length of the diagonal line from the distance between the end points.
