To provide an indoor unit of an air conditioner, automatically removing dust from an air filter, and surely discharging the removed dust to the outdoors in a short time to improve the dust removing efficiency.
In this indoor unit of the air conditioner, air filters 17, 20 are installed opposite to indoor air suction ports 4, 5 of the indoor unit body 1, an air filter cleaning unit S for removing dust adhering to the surface of the air filter is provided, and an exhaust device 11 for discharging the removed dust to the outdoors is connected to one side part of the air filter cleaning unit. An intake port 36 is opened on the opposite side to the side to which the exhaust device of the air filter cleaning unit is connected. The intake port is provided with a lid 37 freely opened and closed, and a driving mechanism 38 for driving the lid to open and close. A control part R is provided to control the driving mechanism so that at the operation start of the exhaust device, the intake port is closed, and after the lapse of a predetermined time from the operation start, the intake port is opened.
