To provide an induction heating apparatus and an induction heating method that can control a heating temperature distribution irrespective of a magnetic or non-magnetic property for even a thin metal plate, and perform heating while following change of plate width and meandering.
In an apparatus for inductively heating a metal plate passing through the inside of an induction coil, with respect to vertical projection images obtained when electric conductors constituting induction coils at the front and back surface sides of the metal plate respectively are vertically projected onto the metal plate, the electrical conductors at the front and back surface sides are arranged to be displaced from each other so that the electrical conductors are not overlapped with each other in the longitudinal direction of the metal plate at the center portion in the width direction of the metal plate, and also the electrical conductors are arranged to be partially overlapped with each other in parallel in the longitudinal direction of the metal plate at at least one end portion in the width direction of the metal plate.
