PURPOSE: To concentrate the generation of component segregation parts due to the concentration of solutes in the final solidifyication part of a molten metal only to the upper part of a casting ingot and to make the depth of a pipe formed at the upper part of the casting ingot short.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of executing the ingot making by setting the feeder head frame 12 for ingot making at the upper part of a mold and providing a heat insulator on the upper face of the molten metal poured into the mold, the ingot is made by reducing or preventing the flowing of gas through an interface part between the feeder head frame and the heat insulator 14 at the interval of the interface part between the feeder head frame for ingot making and the molten metal and outer air and the feeder head frame for ingot making is provided with a gas flow regulating part for reducing or preventing the flowing of gas.
