To provide an initial register presetting method which highly precisely puts a register mark at a gate of an automatic registering control device, and a device using this method.
In this initial register presetting method, a plate cylinder setting process for setting plate cylinders of different colors to printing units of different colors so as to achieve the identical phase rotation of the plate cylinders in a printing pattern; a printing interval detection process for detecting a printing interval of printed matter to be printed per one rotation of the plate cylinder; and a path length adjusting process for adjusting a web path length between the printing units so that the web path length becomes an integral multiple of the printing interval, are provided. In addition, the initial register presetting device comprises a plate cylinder setting means for setting the plate cylinders of different colors to the printing units of different colors so as to achieve the identical phase rotation of the plate cylinders in the printing units; a printing interval detection means for detecting the printing interval of printed matter to be printed per one rotation of the plate cylinder between the printing units; and a path length adjusting means for adjusting the web path length between the printing units so that the web path length becomes an integral multiple of the printing interval.
