Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer capable of printing the outer surface of printed matters of a wide variety of shapes, even while suppressing labor required for preparation work.SOLUTION: A ink jet printer 1 includes a holding portion for holding a printed matter W of the three-dimensional shape, conveying means 12 having a rough positioning means and a precise positioning means, and control means 104. In the rough positioning means, the distance in vertical direction between the holding portion and a carriage 103 to print the outer surface WS of the printed matter W is changed with the operation by an operator. The precise position adjusting means 14 can change the vertical distance between the outer surface WS of the printed matter W held by the holding portion and the carriage 103. The control means 104 controls precise positioning means 14, such that the vertical distance between the outer surface WS of the printed matter W held by the holding portion and the carriage 103 is a suitable one.
