Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which the suction efficiency of a negative pressure generating pump and the gas barrier properties can be enhanced, and a method for working the tube of an ink jet recorder.
SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a recording head 4 ejecting ink, a cap 10 for sealing the nozzle forming plane 14 of the recording head 4, and a suction pump 19 for applying a negative pressure to the cap 10. The suction pump 19 comprises a holder 26 rotating in the pump body, a silicone rubber tube T3 interposed between the pump body and the holder 26 substantially in U-shape, and a plurality of rollers 28 supported slidably by the holder 26 and pressing the silicone rubber tube T3 against the guide wall 24 in the pump body. The cap 10 and the suction pump 19 are connected through a connecting member 31 having a diameter smaller than that of the silicone rubber tube T3 and gas barrier properties of the connecting member 31 are made higher than those of the silicone rubber tube T3.
