To provide an inkjet printer which shortens time required to detect poor ejection from a nozzle, by utilizing an impact force when ink ejected from the nozzle reaches a recording medium, and which enhances the accuracy of the detection of the poor ejection from the nozzle.
This line inkjet printer records an image on the recording medium by using a head unit wherein a plurality of head module arrays, composed of a plurality of head modules with a plurality of nozzles, arranged on the same line at mutual predetermined intervals in the main scanning direction of the recording medium, are adjacently arranged at mutual predetermined intervals in a sub-scanning direction. The inkjet printer is equipped with first and second poor-ejection detecting module arrays A and B which are arranged in positions corresponding to the respective head modules, which can rotate in the sub-scanning direction of the recording medium and which are composed of a plurality of poor-ejection detecting modules 60a for detecting the poor ejection from the nozzle, and a driving motor M and a transmission mechanism G for simultaneously driving the module arrays A and B in a rotative manner.
