To establish a method for causing a tumor containing an insecticidal protein in a normal Dicotyledoneae, in particular, in a tissue thereof, by imparting pest resistance, particularly, insect resistance to a plant, stably intercalating a gene coding for the insecticidial protein in a genome of a plant cell, expressing the gene of the plant cell, tuningly or constitutionally expressinging the gene so as to make a plant tissue grow as a normal plant and producing a novel special insecticidial tissue in the plant.
The plant cell is genetically modified in such a manner as to have an insecticidal structured gene under control of a promoter capable of being expressed in a plant. If the plant cell having the insecticidal structured gene capable of being expressed under control of the plant expressible promoter is obtained, the plant tissue and a whole plant can be regenerated. By growing the regenerated plant by a common method and introducing it, the introduced gene can be transferred to another strain or cultivated entity by a conventional breeding technique.
