To provide an insert for milling in which a corner transition part between an interlocking sub-cutting edge and a main cutting edge is strong and sufficiently functions and particularly to provide an insert for a front surface milling of a double surface type.
The invention relates to the insert for milling, which has a prescribed number of cutting edges capable of being alternately applied, and particularly to the insert for the front surface milling of the double surface type. The insert for milling includes an upper surface (16a), a reference plane parallel thereto and the main cutting edge (12) for removing cutting powder and the surface wiping sub-cutting edges (14) individually formed at an obtuse angle to the main cutting edge (as shown in a plan view). The individual sub-cutting edges (14) are (as shown in a side view) respectively inclined at a suitable angle () in the relation to the reference plane of the insert for milling, more precisely, so that a first end part (23) connected to the main cutting edge (12) is located at a level lower than that of a second end part (24) on an opposite side.
