Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently ensure coupling rigidity of a pair of surge tanks, to uniformize distribution ability of intake air between cylinders and a resonance supercharging effect, and to prevent the generation of uncomfortable engine noise.
SOLUTION: An intake device for an engine comprises a first surge tank 4 installed above a second bank 2; a second surge tank 6 installed externally of the lower part of the first surge tank 4; the side wall part 7 of the first surge tank 4; the upper wall part 12 of the second surge tank 6; first and second upper stream intake passages 8 and 13 extending in the direction of the output shaft of an engine; and the confluent part 18 of the two upper stream intake passages 8 and 13. The downstream peripheral wall of the first upper stream intake passage 8 and the side wall part 7 of the first surge tank 4 are integrally formed and the downstream peripheral wall of the second upper stream intake passage 13 and the upper wall part 12 of the second surge tank 6 are integrally formed.
