Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrated slurry hydroprocessing and steam pyrolysis process for the production of olefin and an aromatic petrochemical product from a crude oil feedstock.SOLUTION: A method for treating a crude oil feedstock is provided that comprises: a step of combining crude oil, a steam pyrolysis residual liquid fraction and slurry reside and treating them in a hydroprocessing zone 4 in the presence of hydrogen under conditions effective to produce an effluent 10a having an increased hydrogen content; a step 36 of thermally cracking the effluent 10a with steam under conditions effective to produce a mixed product stream 44 and steam pyrolysis residual liquid fraction 38; and a step of separating the mixed product stream 44 to recover 70 olefins and aromatics and to purify 64 and recycle the hydrogen.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
